Hi Reader - I hope you're having a restful Sunday! This week, we are diving into my latest rotation + continuing my interview prep series and The Match Corner.

Before we dive in, I wanted to share a quick reminder that Mock Interviews and One-on-One Sessions are available, with availability updated weekly.

Let's get into it!

What's New with You?

This week, I started an Emergency Medical Services and Prehospital Care elective, which essentially means I am doing ambulance ride-a-longs. I am spending some time in Manhattan and Brooklyn, on BLS (Basic Life Support) and ALS (Advanced Life Support) trucks, giving me such diverse exposure!

For some reason, I thought the goal was to get patients into the ambulance + to the hospital as quickly as possible, but I realized there is so much more that goes into it. For example, we had a call for a patient with hypotension and AMS (altered mental status). First, we got an EKG and started IV fluids to stabilize the patient enough to transport them from their house to the ambulance. Then, in the ambulance, we started CPAP, gave epinephrine, and clarified the patient's goals of care with their family member who was present. I am so SO much more than I anticipated!

This weekend, I traveled to Virginia to attend a family wedding. My sister, dad, and grandad drove up and met me there; there is nothing better than a weekend spent with family! AND of course, the festivities ended just in time to catch the Clemson football game, and we finally won. It has been a rough season (we are currently 4-5 (ugh!!!) for all the sports fans reading).

Excited to see what this week holds. Chat soon!

- Morgan :)
