What Helped Me Score a 519 on the MCAT

Each year, medical school admissions becomes more competitive, and a high MCAT score is one way to stand out. Full-length practice exams helped me build stamina, identify content gaps, and get a realistic sense of where I’d score on test day. When I studied, I took 13 full-length exams, and doing so is one of the main reasons I scored a 519.

That said, just taking exams isn’t enough. Improvement comes from reviewing them thoroughly. I often struggled with short explanations that didn’t show why I got questions wrong.

UWorld’s new full-length MCAT practice exam solves this. You get a scaled score, detailed performance analytics by subject and skill area, and step-by-step explanations with illustrations for every question, turning practice into a high-yield study session.

You can check it out here.

The Med Student Corner will return in May. If you need anything in the meantime or have ideas for future series, just reply to this email or message me on Instagram!

Hi Reader, I hope you're having a restful weekend! Let's dive into this week's updates and tips. What's New With You? My social calendar was packed to the brim this week, which was unusual for me as an introvert who relies on my alone time to recharge. Monday, we hosted a Galentine's Day celebration with a pasta bar, lots of sweet treats, and trinket decorating. It was so fun getting my girls together and catching up! Tuesday, my friend hosted a Lunar New Year dinner. I learned how to make...

Hi Reader, I hope you're having a restful weekend! Let's dive into this week's updates and tips. What's New With You? The past two weeks have been busy, and life is only getting busier! I started a Culinary Medicine elective at the beginning of February. It's an interdisciplinary course with medical students and registered dietitian students. Twice a week, we cook new, healthier, plant-based meals. I am such a picky eater and stray away from trying new things, so it has been a great way to...
