Sub-I Survival, Psych Lessons, and Helping You Get In | Weekly Newsletter

Hi Reader, and Happy Sunday! I hope this week brought you something good. Here’s your check-in: part life update, part med school insight, and part premed wisdom.

What's New with You?

There is nothing like a 49 hour work week to welcome me into my pediatrics sub-I. I was so nervous going into this week because, as med students, we always want to impress. I had also been on some chiller rotations, so I expected an adjustment period getting back into the 10-12 hour work days.

But I lucked out with the sweetest team - from my residents to clerkship students. After our first morning of rounds, I felt like I was back into the swing of things. And as always, I am reminded of why I pursued this journey in the first place.

The goal of this rotation is to act at the level of an intern/first year resident, so I am first contact for my patients (which means I get ALL of the chats re: my patients), put in the orders, and anything else that needs to happen. On Friday, I had 5 patients which was the most I've ever had since starting med school. It was a challenge, but I am embracing it!

I spent this weekend relaxing and recovering - watching some Sex and the City with my friends and then a girls' night in full of reality TV and homemade cocktails.

- Morgan :)
