Cruise Recap + Residency App Updates | Weekly Newsletter

Hi Reader - I hope you had an amazing week and you're having a restful Sunday!

Before we dive in, (1) if you have applied to medical school this cycle, please take 2-3 minutes to complete this Mid-Application Cycle Feedback form, and (2) if you're planning to apply to medical school next cycle (2026-2027), please fill out this quick survey to help me! I would GREATLY appreciate it.

Let's get into it!

What's New with You?

The past two weeks have been SO special! My high school best friend and I took an amazing Royal Caribbean cruise to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. The temperature DROPPED here, so it was a perfect escape to soak in some warm weather (and likely my last tan of 2025).

We did nothing but eat, sit in the jacuzzi, lay out on the deck, read our books, and eat some more! She's busy working as a new PA while I am in the craziness of residency applications, but I'm so happy we carved out this time to catch up and get some much-needed relaxation in!

I flew back to NYC earlier this week, and I've been hanging out with friends. Every day feels bittersweet knowing it is filled with so many "lasts" in NYC (ex. my last winter living here), but I am lucky to be making all these memories with my best friends!

Today, I have a few holiday celebrations (wish me lucking in trying this recipe), and tonight, I am finally going to see Wicked Pt. 2!

Chat soon!

- Morgan :)

If you applied during the 2025-2026 application cycle, and you're waiting to hear back from medical schools, now is the time to send update letters/letters of interest. Check out my post covering all the details, including an example letter.

I hope a well-deserved break is coming your way! I am a big believer in taking some real days away from studying. As a preclinical and clerkship student, I found the biggest barrier to that was getting behind on my Anki cards. Make sure to check out the Postpone Cards add-on. It will delay all of your cards by the number of days you enter, giving you a well-deserved break without the stress of your due cards piling up!

If you're anything like me, it feels like the programs are starting to get jumbled in my brain (and I'm worrying how I will make my final rank list!). I came across this amazing Running Rank List spreadsheet that I've been using. You can customize it to your needs and "rank" programs throughout interview season. Hope it helps!
